Where the Wild Things Are In Sacramento

The weather for our “Where the Wild Things Are” Sacramento Zoo event was the complete opposite of the same event at the Oakland Zoo two weeks earlier! Sunshine and a light breeze ushered in a perfect spring day to spend at the beautiful William Lands Park, the location of the Sacramento Zoo. Over one hundred CARH clients, care providers, volunteers and staff enjoyed a full day of fun!

Our guests checked in at the zoo for a morning treasure hunt. With clues in hand they spread out to find the locations of where treasures could be found. At each site were volunteers from The First Baptist Church of Elk Grove to welcome them and give them a special gift. After visiting most of the main attractions our guests crossed the street to the picnic site where CARH staff had set up a tasty BBQ lunch served in a commemorative safari hat. After enjoying lunch and visiting with each other a number of individuals returned to the zoo to spend the remainder of the day. Thank you all who made this another successful CARH event in Sacramento!!

CARH’s Visiting Easter Bunny

As Easter came early this year, CARH’s “Visiting Easter Bunny” and “Easter Chick”, quickly sprung into action and visited a total of 34 facilities that cater to the developmentally disabled. With only two weeks to deliver, the busy bunny hopped to it and successfully got the job done delivering 2,130 gifts to those living in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Sacramento Counties. What better way to brighten one’s day with a big bunny hug, “Happy Easter” wishes, and a gift. We would like to thank all of CARH’s wonderful volunteers who helped bring joy to these special individuals. The smiles and laughter you helped to create say it all, and is a simple reminder to all of us at CARH how important we are to our special needs community.
